Puma States x Shadow Society

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

shadow-society-logo

The Puma Shadow Society is a group of Puma heads who’ve come together to add a premium touch of expertise to the reworking of some of the German brands most prized silhouettes. While the identity of this gang of aficionados still remains a secret, one thing’s for sure, they certainly know what makes a good shoe!

The first drop under the ‘Shadow Society’ banner see the release of one of Puma’s most celebrated models, the States, a silhouette that’s not seen much of the light of day since we released the Puma States x size? back in December 2006.

Utilising rich suede in the uppers and supple leather linings, the Puma States x Shadow Society combine some of the best colour and material options we’ve seen used by any brand in a long time, and if this first outing is anything to go by, we expect big things for the Shadow Society and eagerly await their next release.

All four colourways of the States are now available in limited numbers from our online store.

adidas Originals Munchen - new colourway

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

img_0381

The original version of the Munchen was only produced between 1979 and 1985 and is now one of the most sought after lines from the adidas back catalogue. Very similar to the Trimm-Trab (1977), the Munchen was initially intended as a multipurpose training shoe and this navy/white colourway is soon to become the third Munchen released under our worldwide exclusive Adi’s Archive collection series with adidas Originals.

There’s no news on the release date yet, we reckon sometime in October, so in the meantime, enjoy the photo and don’t forget to keep checking back from more info.

Addict Artist Series: no.16 - Mark Ward

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

addict-1

The Artist Series by UK streetwear heavyweights Addict is a limited edition collection of apparel featuring artwork from some of the UK’s top street artists. Now in its 16 instalment, the autumn/winter 2011 collection has started to land at size? stores and online with standout pieces coming from London based artist, Mark Ward.

mark-ward

Mark Ward is an artist based in South London. His retina burning work is derived from his obsession with Americana. Raised on a diet of Saturday morning cartoons, skateboarding, BMX, and drawing, Mark has kept true to his roots soaking up every last candy wrapper and morphing it into what he describes as his surreal distorted visions.

Growing up in the South London suburbs in the late 80’s, Mark was reading every possible skate magazine he could lay his hands on. He realised that his South London environment didn’t reflect the sunny California image he was being sold in Thrasher. Rolling through puddles in Croydon just doesn’t match up to cruising along Long Beach.

mark-ward-funky-worm-image

Mark’s work mixes the everyday mundane with the surreal elements of the 80’s American bubble, encouraging the viewer to see things differently and look twice at their surroundings.

mark-ward-images

In this series of tees Mark has taken the icons of a sunnier climate and juxtaposed them in true Ward style with banal elements to peel back the gloss on the pop images.

Executed in bright bold colours that are unexpected on such sinister topics, and in a gritty yet still slick style that wouldn’t look out of place on that fishtail board you had as a kid…Don’t believe the hype!!

Trainer production & why the iPhone is killing the industry

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

1315457456moneyjpg

Ever wondered why the price of your Max 1’s, Authentic’s or Forest Hills seems to have gone through the roof over the last couple of years? Is it down to the worldwide economic meltdown, global warming, or just the brands trying to squeeze that little bit more out of you to boost the bar bill at their Christmas parties?

Good question……

So exactly how much does it cost to produce a pair of trainers? £1.50, 3 quid, a tenner…?! Surely it can’t be much because they’re all made in China these days, right? No matter which way you look at it, it’s an interesting debate and one that not a lot of us actually know the answer to, so to help put our minds at rest our good friends over at Sneaker Freaker decided to delve a little deeper into the subject in an interesting feature entitled ‘Why the iPhone is killing the sneaker industry’.

To read the article in full and find out exactly what your iPhone has got to do with the potential demise of an idustry that we all love, hit the link.

Penfield autumn/winter 2011 collection

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

penfield1

In 1975 Harvey Gross established the Penfield brand in Hudson, Massachusetts. Not long after starting up, Penfield became recognised for their exceptional quality, reliability and function in down-filled jackets and outerwear. Penfield epitomises the spirit and qualities of New England and the great outdoors and for over four decades they’ve produced products according to the same basic principles on which the company was founded.

New for autumn/winter 2011, the US brand have referenced their vibrant history with the continued use of archival-inspired designs and fabrics like 60/40 and Hudson Wax cloth, as well as forging ahead with brand new styles and forward-looking projects.

Two of Penfield’s most popular segments – Trailwear by Penfield and the Black Bear collection – have received upgrades for this new season.  Black Bear represents Penfield’s most fashion-forward range, with, monochrome colorways and streamlined silhouettes, capped off with the introduction of traditional, luxe suiting fabrics. Trailwear by Penfield makes use of classic Herringbone tweeds in a rich autumnal colour palette, complemented by new, distinct branding and labeling. Together with the Classic collection of staple Penfield styles, each individual segment fits together under Penfield’s design philosophy of outerwear, shirting, pants and accessories that are as fashionable as they are functional.

The new collection is set to land in selected size? stores and online over the next couple of days. In the meantime, below is a selection of our favourite pieces:
