v22505-side-copy1

Far too long ago we broke the news of an upcoming colourway in the adidas Originals Malmo and now (finally) we can share with you some more detailed imagery and the all important release date info…..

Available from size? stores and online on Tuesday 8th November, this brown/orange colourway is the 3rd Malmo to release as part of our worldwide exclusive Adi’s Archive collection and despite some initial shady feedback from some it looks as if the majority of you have changed your tune and as a result we expect this colourway to be as popular as the previous two.

Nike Toki Premium - size? exclusive

Friday, October 21st, 2011

dsc_0358

The Toki first surfaced towards the tail end of 2008 and is pretty much a hybrid creation of two Nike silhouettes. The upper is taken from the Air Sabuku and the sole unit is essentially a vulcanised version of what we’re used to seeing on the Blazer. Combine the two and you get Nike’s answer to the Chukka Boot.

Released as more of a lifestyle silhouette rather than a sport specific trainer, the Toki has seen a number of different colour and material options over the last couple of years or so and has achieved a decent following as of late due to it’s clean styling and sleek design.

Set to land in size? stores and online next week, we’re proud to introduce to you these two size? worldwide exclusive colourways in the Toki Premium. Utilising supple leather in the uppers and featuring a perforated Swoosh, both are limited to just 500 pairs and won’t be around for long.

‘In Mint Condition’ - collectors take note!

Friday, October 21st, 2011

Whilst scouring the net recently I came across this neat little video on insidethesneakerbox. Entitled ‘In Mint Condition’, the video is a insight into a guy called Fabien Hoyois’ collection of some 400/500 vintage trainers, the majority of which from arguably the golden age of trainer design/evolution, the late 80’s/early 90’s…… My kinda era!

Without giving too much away, Fabien talks about why and when he started collecting as well showing us plenty of boxfresh gems from his predominantly ‘Nike running’ collection.

Definitely worth a watch, this is how a collection should look!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Noses

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

“Genius”, “Compelling”, “The Michaelangelo of this generation”.

The above are none of the words we’ve heard to describe the work seen on the Tumblr that is the subject of this blog, althought the latter does hold a clue. Teenage Mutant Ninja Noses is one of those pages that you simply have to tell people about. How did this come about? When did the instigator discover that this actually worked? Whatever the motive, it is funny and definitely worth 2 minutes of your procrastination. Enjoy a few selects below and the Tumblr in all its doodled nose glory here.

adidas Originals x Ransom AW11 - 2nd drop

Monday, October 17th, 2011

ransom1

Our second drop of footwear from the autumn/winter 2011 collaboration series between adidas Originals and Canadian based retailer Ransom has started to land.

Featuring new material and colour options applied to some of their most popular silhouettes alongside a couple of new additions to the range, this second drop goes down a more rugged/wintery route with Ransom utilising an abundance of waterproof leathers and suedes as well as heavy cordura and nubuck.

Available at size? stores and online now, below is a pick of our favourites from the collection:

The Chase

A new addition to the series and constructed in full waterproof leather, The Chase is a boot designed for everyday wear that’s strong enough to handle any weather, but sleek enough for casual use.

The Bluff Mid

Warmth and comfort is added to The Bluff Mid, a staple of the adidas Originals x Ransom collection, in the way of a boiled wool lined inner, whereas the outer features heavy cordura to help protect your feet from the elements and keep them dry as well as warm.

Look what just arrived at my desk…!

Ok so they’re not mine; I’m only a 6.5 and these whoppers are a UK 12!, but still, I didn’t think i’d ever get to see a pair this close up.

For those of you that don’t know, you are looking at a pair of Nike MAG, as seen in Steven Spielberg’s 1989’s classic, Back To The Future 2.

First unveiled under a shroud of secrecy to a select few heads last month, the MAG was finally made available to the buy for the first time in 22 years when 1,500 pairs were auctioned off over 10 days (150 pairs per day) on nikemag.ebay.com with all net proceeds going to the Michael J.Fox Foundation to help fund research into the ultimate goal of a future without Parkinson’s disease. Not surprisingly, all 1,500 pairs were snapped up with one pair, the first, rumoured to have been brought by Tinie Tempah, goin for $37,500! In total just short of $5.7m was raised for the foundation with another $50m said to be being donated by Sergey Brin, the co-founder of Google, before the year is over.

The exact amount paid for this pair is still a little in the dark but i can guarantee they are the most expensive pair of shoes I’ve ever had the pleasure of holding!

A big thanks to Scozza for bringing them in and modelling them…..

Steve Jobs’ favourite shoe (via Gwar izm)

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

We know we’re late on this one, but we couldn’t pass up the opportunity of  re-blogging this brilliant article by the great Gary Warnett aka @gwarizm, looking at the footwear of choice (New Balance 991) of one of the planet’s most influential characters, the late and great Steve Jobs, co-foundre of the little known ‘Apple’ brand.

stevejobsnewbalance

We could try and do Gary’s words justice and re-word and possibly hash up what is one of the most genuine and appropriate tributes to the man who revolutionised how people buy and listen to music, communicate with each other and connect and purchase technology. So instead, we’ll give you a snippet of the post (full article here) and a few of the pics that Gary took whilst visiting the factory where the famous shoes are made, Flimby.

newbalance1

“For all the aesthete tendencies and focus on curves, it’s curious that Steve would opt for what’s arguably one of the ugliest shoes in the NB armoury. I’ve got a lot of love for the 991, but it’s the quality, the comfort of ABZORB and the shoe’s performance credibility rather than slick looks that make it appeal to me. The ‘USA’ panel is an awkward detail on a busy upper. Then it all makes sense — Steve had plenty on his mind and he didn’t need his shoes to cause any issues — the New Balance 991 is undisputedly trustworthy. Geniuses don’t want to deal with nonsense.

After taking some pictures of the New Balance 991 production line in the UK factory in Flimby earlier this year, my appreciation for the shoe increased significantly. I wasn’t sure where they should go, but it made sense to up them here in their entirety. I’m sure there are some like minded oddballs thinking differently who’ll enjoy geeking out over this kind of imagery. That afternoon we only caught the navy variation being put together but we saw the preparation for the greys that Steve favoured. Whether the big man preferred a Made in England or Made in the USA variant remains a mystery, but it’s long perplexed me that even UK-made versions of the 991 still have the ‘USA’ text on them. It’s unlikely that Apple would ever let anybody shoot inside their factories either, but that transparency is what gives New Balance its own rabid audience — one unlikely to switch brand allegiance and willing to cyber beef with critics too. Brand loyalty’s a powerful thing.”
