The Nike x Roundel by London Underground Collection fuses a set of ground-breaking urban icons: Nike’s Air Max 1 and the London Tube. Famous patterns from the world’s first underground railway intertwines with Nike’s latest technology; an engineered woven Jacquard, creating a truly unforgettable design.

Representing the diverse and unique style of the city of London, the Air Max 1 takes direct inspiration from the famous seat upholstery found in the railway cars from the capital. Traditionally made from moquette (a hardwearing wool and polyester mix), the specially commissioned geometric pattern was created by famed designer Misha Black and was introduced in 1978 for the new trains on the District Line.

Becoming a familiar sight for tube and bus commuters during the 1980s, the District design was a pattern that was widely used all over the city the year the Air Max 1 was launched. This design has now been transferred over to the shoe on poly Jacquard weaved overlay panels creating a striking effect. The shoe also features an updated fit and feel, ‘Roundel’ branding on the tongue and a natural gum rubber outsole.

The Nike Air Max 1 Jacquard x Roundel by London Underground will be launching this coming Saturday 14th December online at 10:00am GMT via direct links on our Facebook and Twitter pages. They will also be available in selected size? stores, priced at £95 and in UK sizes 5 – 12.
