Nike SB present their latest apparel collection entitled ‘Fit To Move’: a compilation of lightweight, breathable garments designed specifically with skating in mind; prioritising movement and durability. Focussing on the motion and freedom that remains paramount whilst skating, Nike SB tried and tested every aspect of the collection tailoring it for a bespoke, unique feel on the board.

To showcase the new collection Nike sought after photographer Tim Barber who used 22 cameras to get a full 360 degree perspective of SB pro-skaters Paul Rodriguez, Luan Oliveira, Theotis Beasley, Fernando Bramsmark and Alex Olson all performing the same trick. The concept of the photoshoot was kept simple to portray each of the skaters different styles and stances, allowing the new technically designed product range to standout.

Each skater had free reign over the styling and outfit choices in the lookbook, selecting their own ensemble. The full video lookbook can be found here.

With performance very much at the forefront of the mind, the SB design team have incorporated a whole host of tech into the Fit To Move collection, including Nike’s staple ‘Dri-FIT’ technology; a sweat wicking mesh material designed to provide advanced lightweight cooling capabilities whilst maintaining a close, natural feel. Mesh panelling has been used in key areas like the under arms to help increase ventilation, boosting airflow and giving extra stretch.

Taking inspiration from the Nike Sportswear’s ‘Tech Pack’, Fit To Move features bonded seems, reducing irritation, enhancing durability and aiding with aerodynamics. A new shape hood construction has been created giving a scuba like feel, providing warmth and coverage, adapting perfectly to the time of year and its surroundings.

Longer sleeves contain thumbholes allowing you to lock down the sleeves and a dropped back hem to help cover your base have been added to help increase ultimate movement. Even the positioning of the SB branding has been considered, allowing for maximum exposure whilst in motion.

Technology aside, on or off the board, the biggest challenge was incorporating all of this whilst still creating the same, stylised Nike SB feel. As you can see, the transition is effortless, as each garment can be a daily essential in any wardrobe.
