kuroki_groupshot Eastpak are by far and large one of the key names in the world of luggage. Their backpacks can be seen on a global scale, and alongside their signature Padded Packer some of their best output comes in the form of their collaborative projects with brands and other key creatives within the fashion sector. For their latest endeavour they've headed east and teamed up with the Kuroki Company on a duo of backpack's paying homage to Japanese selvedge denim. ek620_980_alt002_hiresek620_980_alt004_hires For those not aware of the significance of 'selvedge', the name is derived from the process of using the outer edge of the sheet of denim to create the leg section in a pair of jeans (the ‘self binding edge’) which is finished off with a clean white seam to contain the edge of the weave and prevent it from unravelling. This helps to maintain the strength of the denim, giving an overall higher quality product designed to last years. ek620_970_alt007_hiresek620_970_alt006_hires Based out in Okayama, Japan, the Kuroki Company resides within the heart of one of the most important areas of denim production in the world. The white edged detailing on a pair of jeans has always been a hallmark of a quality product, a detail which has been carried over into this latest Eastpak collaboration. Each bag uses authentic, high quality selvedge denim in it's construction that really encapsulates the ethos behind Kuroki. The Japanese theme continues into the inside of each bag, with a Koi fish print featuring across the lining and laptop sleeve. Finishing details on the bag include a leather brand patch on the front pocket, complete with the same sort of rivet you'd find on a pair of jeans. The Eastpak 'Japanese Denim' Pack is available online and in selected size? stores now. ek620_970_alt003_hiresek620_980_alt006_hires Save Save Save
